Let's get started.
The first commonly mispronounced business word is data.
咱们初步吧。

Data. Note that in American English, they say data, so the vowel sound is different.

This means facts or information, especially when examined and used to find things out or to make decisions.

你可以还听到它被读作of-ten。Of-ten。
But this is less common and less accepted. Often means many times.
可是这种读法不那么常见,承受度也不高。常常的意思是指许多次。
For example, I often arrive to work early.
Number six is remuneration.
比方,我常常提前上班。
第六个词是薪资。
Remuneration. You will hear so many native speakers get this wrong and call this renumeration, but it should be remuneration.
薪资。你可以会听到非常多的母语者把这个词读错,把它读成 renumeration,可是大约是remuneration。
This means an amount of money that someone is paid for the work that they've done.
For example, generous remuneration packages are offered in this position.
这个词的意思是或人因为他们从事的作业而得到的必定量的钱。
比方,这个职位的薪资方案很丰富。

An espresso, you probably know what it is, but it's a strong black coffee made by forcing steam or boiling water through ground coffee.
For example, I'll need four espressos to get me through today.

And the last one, number 10, is pronunciation.
比方,我对这儿的打点缺失感到绝望。
最终一个,第十个词,是发音。
Pronunciation, commonly mispronounced as pronounciation, which is wrong.
This is the way in which a language or a particular word or sound is pronounced.
发音,常常被错读成pronounciation,这是差错的。
这个词的意思是某种言语或某个特定的词或声响被读的方法。
For example, her pronunciation of the technical terms was impressive.
So those were 10 commonly mispronounced words.
比方,她关于技能术语的发音令人形象深化。
以上就是10个常常被读错的单词。
Now I'm going to teach you a trick that you can use to find out how to pronounce any word.
Something that often causes a lot of anxiety for both native and non-native workers is the pronunciation of technical terms.
如今我要教你们一个可以用来找就任何单词读音的小技巧。
常常让母语者和非母语者作业者感到焦虑的一件事就是技能术语的发音。
Mispronouncing something can be so embarrassing.
It makes it look like you don't know what you're talking about, when, in reality, it might just be that you've come across the term many times but only written down.
差错的发音有时分非常令人为难。
它让你看上去如同不晓得自个在说啥,实际上你见过这个术语许多次,只不过是以书面的方法而已。
I have a trick that will show you how to pronounce any technical term in both a British and an American accent at the click of a button.
It's the Oxford Learner's Dictionary, and it is the best pronunciation tool I've found.
我有一个小技巧可以向你展示任何技能术语的英式和美式读法,只需要害击一下按钮就可以做到。那就是牛津学习者词典,这是我找到的最好的发音东西。
For virtually, every word, they include the international phonetic alphabet transcription for both British pronunciation and American pronunciation, along with their corresponding pronunciation recordings. Virtually.
比方virtually这个词,以及每个词,它们都包括了英式发音和美式发音的世界音标,以及对应的发音录音。Virtually。
Virtually. It's a tool I've spoken about a lot on my channel because it offers so much to learners of English.
Virtually。我在我的频道里多次说到过这个东西,因为它给英语学习者供给了非常多的学习内容。
And they have loads of other features. They'll show you the collocations, the etymology of a word.
而且它们还有许多其它的特征。它们会给你展示某个单词的分配和词源。
That's the origin of a word. And also the full word family for so many words.
也就是一个单词的来历。还有许多单词的无缺的词族。
(词族指的是具有相同结束音,即押尾韵的,而且词尾由相同的字母组合而成的一组单词。)
Honestly, I have tried so many websites, and this is the one I always go to.
I use it to plan my videos.
厚道说,我试过许多网站,而这个是我老是会用的。
我用它来方案我的视频。
I love it, and I think it's the best.
Now, I'm going to talk to you about a common question, which is which accent should I learn?
我很喜爱它,而且我认为它是最佳的。
那么我要跟你们谈论一个常见的疑问,那就是我该学习那种口音呢?
Should I learn the British English accent or the American English accent if I want to go into business?
I'm also going to talk to you about whether or not you should get rid of your own accent.
假定我要从事商业有关的作业,那么我大约学英式英语口音仍是美式英语口音呢?
我还要跟你们谈论你是不是大约脱节你自个的口音。
A common question that I receive a lot is which accent should I learn?
And it's usually someone deciding between American or British.
我常常收到的一个疑问就是我大约学习哪种口音?
而且一般就是在美式英语和英式英语中选择。
My answer to this is simple. It does not matter.
我的答案很简略。这没联络。
What matters is clear pronunciation.
I've spent time in the offices of many multinational companies, like 谷歌 and Facebook, and I'm always impressed by the diversity of accents.
重要的是发音要清楚。
我在许多跨国公司的单位里待过好久,比方谷歌和脸书,而我老是会因为口音的多样性而形象深化。
You should learn the accent that you like best or the accent that you come across most.
I've asked people before if they've spent time in America because they are speaking English with an American accent, and they reply that they just watch a lot of American TV shows.
你大约学习你最喜爱的口音或许你遇到的最多的口音。
我早年问过一些人他们是不是在美国待过,因为他们说的英语带有美国口音,而他们答复说他们只是看了许多美国电视节目而已。
I also get asked by students if they should reduce or get rid of their accent.
I would never want anyone to feel ashamed of their accent or under pressure to get rid of it.
我还被学生问过他们是不是大约削减或脱节他们的口音。
我不期望任何人为自个的口音感到惭愧,或处于要脱节它们的压力之下。
All that matters is clear pronunciation. Don't reduce your accent, improve your pronunciation.
最重要的就是清楚的发音。不要削弱你的口音,改进你的发音。
In the next part of the video, I'm going to give you five tips for improving your pronunciation.
My first tip for improving your pronunciation is focus on your listening because listening and speaking go hand in hand.
在本视频的下个环节,我要给你们五个改进发音的主张。
我的第一个改进发音的主张就是专心于你的听力,因为听和说是同步的。
I often advise my students to listen to audiobooks or, even better, listen to audiobooks and read the real book at the same time.
Once you know how a word is supposed to sound, as pronounced by a native, you'll be more likely to be able to reproduce that sound yourself.
我常常主张我的学生们听有声书或许,非常好的是,听有声书的一起看实体书。
一旦你晓得一个单词该如何发音,像母语者相同发音,那么你就更有可以自个宣告那个声响。
Number two is film and record yourself speaking in English. I absolutely love this tip.
第二个主张就是拍照并记载你自个说英语。我非常喜爱这个主张。
It's quite hard to bring yourself to do it, but it is so effective.
You probably won't realise how many pronunciation mistakes you are making until you hear or see yourself.
要想让自个这么做真的很难,可是这个很有用。
直到听到自个或看到自个说,你可以不领会识到自个会犯多少发音错。
It can be quite shocking, but it gives you a lot to work on. If you record yourself consistently over a long period of time, you can see how you improve, and that can be really motivating.
它可以会很让人吃惊,可是它会让你做许多作业。
假定你记载自个说英语坚持很长一段时刻,你就可以看到自个的前进,而且会很有动力。
My third tip is to schedule in time with a native speaker or a professional teacher.
They can take a closer look at where you are going wrong and will bring out parts of your speech that you don't even realise aren't correct.
我的第三个主张就是跟一个母语者或专业教师组织时刻学习。
他们会近间隔晓得你哪里有疑问,然后会找出你自个都没有知道到的言语差错。
Sometimes, just one hour is enough to completely overhaul your pronunciation.
My fourth tip is to watch and study somebody who you would like to sound like.
有时分只是一个小时就满足改造你的发音了。
我的第四个主张就是调查并研讨你想要跟他有相同发音的人说话。
For example, I really admire Stephen Fry, and I really enjoy how he speaks, so I try to watch him whenever I can, and I take inspiration from him.
You should find someone that you like listening to and try and do the same.
比方,我非常赏识史蒂芬·福莱,而且我很喜爱听他说话,所以我尽可以地调查他,然后我会从他身上获得构思。
你大约找一个你喜爱的人,去听他的声响然后仿效。
Number five, possibly the biggest tip that I'm going to give you, so listen carefully, it's to study and master the IPA, the International Phonetic Alphabet.
If you want to achieve perfect English pronunciation, then you need to master each consonant, each vowel and each diphthong.
第五个主张,或许是我要给你们的最重要的主张,所以请细心听,那就是学习并掌控世界音标。
假定你想要具有完满的英语发音,那么你需要掌控每一个子音、元音和双元音的读法。
You have to know every single one.
Okay, different nationalities will find pronouncing different phonemes harder than others.
你有必要每一个都弄理解。
好的,不一样国家的人会发现宣告不一样的音素比其它的要难。
But if you really dedicate yourself to it, there is no reason why you shouldn't master the IPA.
After that, you'll be able to read any transcription and know how to pronounce any word, even without the help of the Oxford Learner's Dictionary.
可是假定你真的投入去做,那么你就没有理由不去掌控世界音标。
那之后你就可以阅览任何书面文本,而且会发任何单词,即便没有牛津学习者词典的协助也可以。
Now, I'm going to test you on what you've learnt from this lesson.
